About our Hiking Trips

All trips originate in either Franklin or Highlands, North Carolina. See abbreviations for specific locations indicated on each description. On all our hiking trips bring a lunch, drink and something to sit on. A hiking stick is optional. Wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring raingear (no matter what the weather!).
Guests are always welcome, but we ask that pets be left at home. Guests should register by phone since hikes are limited to 20 people and are sometimes cancelled by bad weather.
Groups will wait no longer than 5 minutes beyond the set meeting time. Those carpooling are asked to contribute 3 cents per mile to the driver. r/t indicates round trip.

The Difficulty Ratings

E- Easy, a short hike of less than 4 miles without much ascending or descending.
M- Moderate, a 4 to 7 mile hike with up to 1,000 ft. Climb in elevation.
S- Strenuous, a hike of 5 miles or more with over 1,000 ft. gain in elevation or a hike with very steep rock sections.

Sat.,Nov. 2 Miller Trek Loop at Brasstown Valley Resort: (new hike) 5 or 6.5 mi. M-S Elev. gain 1,130 ft.

Please, be kind to our hike leaders!!! Call them, if you're planning to go on the hike that they're leading. Also, call them if you have to cancel, so they will know not to wait for you.


1. Winter hiking requires warm socks & boots with good tread, gloves & hat. Hypothermia is to be definitely avoided. Despite the precautions, the brisk air and magnificent views are well worth braving the cold.
2. Rain, icy roads or snow may require some hikes to be cancelled or alternate hikes substituted. Check with the hike leader, if at all in doubt.
